Timbuwarra Figures
These two amusing figures are called "Timbuwarra". They are from the Wiru people of the Southern Highlands of New Guinea and date to the mid-20th century. They are considered guardian figures found on the outside of ceremonial houses. The woven fiber is painted with ochre and orange and white pigment. One has Cassowary feathers at the top of the head and beads. They stand 38" high by 14" wide and have custom stands. They sell for $1800.00 each
