Dan Mask

This Dan mask from Liberia/Ivory Coast is carved wood with an oval face, high forehead and protruding mouth that is typical of the mask used by young warriors in contests. The surface has a good patina and there are remains of some applied material on the top of the mask. It measures 5.5" wide by 9" high, dates to the mid 20th century and has a custom mount.
